Dettagli dell'evento
Nearly two decades ago this book on the Piano and Cello Sonatas of Johannes Brahms opened the series of monographs entitled “Musical Repertoires.”
The intentions of that time led to an unprecedented focus on what should constitute the backbone of a musical interpretation worthy of the name: from the choice, precisely, of the “repertoire” to the firm knowledge of the historical context to which it belongs, from the attention to its analytically considered structure to the awareness of the specific problems that these works pose to the performer-interpreter.
The complexity of this assumption compels a mediation: flat and fluent exposition; timely exemplification of each statement, at the cost of having to resort-where one really cannot do without it-to musical examples, tables and-an innovative choice at the beginning of the 21st century-waveforms generated by recording the interpretation in question.
Allow us a little pioneering pride by noting that today we have at our disposal programs dedicated to satisfying this type of research.

This book is not, however, based on a technological approach to Brahms’ music.
Quite the contrary: it is a little like, page after page, looking for – and finding – reasons to love works of art so charged with humanity, passions and enthusiasms.
And these are as many keys offered to the two performers, listeners and readers.
