Dettaglio dell'evento

The Border of Deceit – Sergej Bortkiewicz” aims to unearth the hardest facets that can wreck human life, in particular one above all: War. This Ukrainian composer, a citizen of the Tsarist Russian Empire, writes one of the most dramatic letters from the bathroom of his home in Vienna, during the Second World War, being the only room not left open to the sky, in the middle of winter. It’s just a life in music , a life made of successes, talent, emotions and chimeras. All mixed in the fascinating production of this composer, a world to discover, sadly current as ever, in the words and interpretations of some musical works by the author, who edited the first, and currently only, world biography.

S. Bortkiewicz (1877-1952): Lyrique morceau op. 59 n. 1

Étude op. 15 n. 8

Nocturne “Diana” e Impromptu “Eros” op. 24

Alfonso Soldano is an Italian concert pianist and educator, a deserving citizen of the City of Trani.

A prodigy with innate piano talent, he wins his first music competition at the age of 7 in Taurisano (LE), and has since won numerous other first absolute prizes, or has been a finalist, in national competitions (Milan, Formia, a scholar at the Conservatory of Bari), before graduating with honors and honorable mention from the Conservatory (a score awarded for the first time since the establishment of piano degrees in Italy).

He debuted as a teenager in Mozart’s Concerto K488, and later in Rachmaninov’s Concerto no.2, conducted by Ovidiu Balan.

His artistic training is principally shaped by the teachings of the legendary Italian-French pianist Aldo Ciccolini, who exclusively endorses Alfonso to establish a music academy to nurture talents and culture.

He brilliantly obtained a diploma of High Specialization at the National Academy of Santa Cecilia in Rome, under the guidance of Benedetto Lupo, and founded the Aldo Ciccolini Foundation in Trani, serving as its Founder and Artistic Director.

In the educational field, Alfonso Soldano is the principal Piano instructor at the ‘N. Rota’ Conservatory in Monopoli. He has previously taught at the Conservatories of Rome – Santa Cecilia, Taranto, Bari, Foggia, Lecce, Teramo, and is also invited to give masterclasses at important foreign institutions.

Alfonso Soldano was awarded in 2013 as the best young Italian artist with the Gold Medal from the Maison des Artistes in the great hall of La Sapienza University in Rome.

As a solo pianist, he has performed in numerous theaters and festivals in Italy and abroad. The Seasons 2023 and 2024 will see, among other appointments, concerts in Zurich and Husum/Hamburg (Festival of Pianistic Rarities), Grassi Foundation in Martina Franca, Herbst Musicaux Festival in Verona, a new tour of concerts and masterclasses in China and the USA.

In the publishing field, Alfonso Soldano has expressed himself as an essayist and writer – The Border of Deception (2015), the only global biography of the Ukrainian composer Sergej Bortkiewicz, published by Florestano Editions. In the recording field, Alfonso Soldano is one of the Italian pianists most appreciated by English and American music critics, with 4 albums already recorded for the Divine Art Recordings Group label, and a fifth announced.

In the social sphere, throughout his career, Alfonso Soldano makes music a beneficial tool and promotes events with this thematic aim in the ideal of uniting and rebalancing.
