Abbiamo posto alcune domande a Giorgio Polenta per conoscere la storia del brand e le novità in arrivo, espressione di una lunga tradizione e di una costante attenzione all’innovazione.

Can you tell us something about yourself and the organization you represent? What is your company’s mission and core business?
My name is Giorgio Polenta, I’m 52 years old, and since 2000 my professional career has been tied to the growth of the Eko Guitars brand, of which I am now General Manager. Over these 25 years, I have shared many challenges and just as many rewards with my team, building an intense and exciting experience.
Eko was founded in 1959 thanks to the vision of Oliviero Pigini, and today it continues to pursue the same mission: to create reliable, beautiful, and accessible instruments that allow an ever-growing audience to express themselves through music—especially the guitar. Passion, determination, experience, and research are the values that guide our daily work.

In che modo la tua attività Is located between tradition and innovation? What significance does this dialogue have for you, particularly in the context of Cremona? Few brands in the guitar world can boast over sixty years of history. Our strength lies in our people: a company’s success stems from the talent and enthusiasm of those who experience it every day. Today, I am proud to lead an extraordinary team, whose creative forces are Massimo Varini and Roberto Fontanot, capable of writing important chapters in Eko’s history.
Cremona, a city synonymous with excellence in violin making, represents an ideal setting for us. Here, we can share our tradition and, at the same time, present instruments that best express our ability to innovate and look to the future, particularly in the field of acoustic guitars.

Cosa presenterai quest’anno all’Acoustic Guitar Village? Can you tell us anything about your participation?
This year, we’ll be introducing several new additions to our acoustic guitar range. Specifically, we’ll be introducing the new Tri series, mid-range instruments (MAP €389 including VAT) that integrate modern construction solutions such as the sound port and innovative actuator amplification systems. The actuator not only diffuses the sound, but transforms it into perceptible vibrations on the instrument and in the surrounding environment, giving the musician an immersive, dynamic, and “physical” experience, very close to a natural acoustic sound. Definitely worth a try!
Alongside these new additions, we’ll be introducing the Silent series, two compact and easily transportable instruments available with both nylon and metal strings, designed to offer practicality without sacrificing sound quality.
Finally, we’ll also be showcasing the best of our lineup: the Wow series, the Marco Polo, and the flagship Infinito, our pride and joy of Made in Italy.

Is there a project you’re working on that’s particularly close to your heart right now?
The project closest to our hearts concerns the high-end segment of our production. Creating excellent instruments is a demanding but fundamental challenge: it allows us to demonstrate how far we’ve come in terms of quality and production capacity, and it represents the most authentic expression of our passion for violin making and music.

Appreciating a quality instrument at a trade show isn’t always easy. That’s why in Cremona we’ll be equipped with a professional soundproof booth, provided by our friend Fabio Nioi (boxinsonorizzato.it), so every passionate visitor can fully appreciate every nuance of our guitars’ sound.

by Martina Gozzini Siamo lieti di ospitare quest’anno all’Acoustic Guitar Village Eko Guitars, storico marchio della liuteria italiana.
