Saya Ota was born in Japan in 1994, began her piano studies at the age of 5. She has won prizes in several competitions, including 4th prize at the 11th Ettlingen International Competition for young Pianists category A (Germany) in 2008, finalist at the 22th Brahms International Competition (Austria) in 2015, 1st prize at the 17th Scriabin International Piano Competition (France) in 2017, 4th prize and special prize of ALOISE VECCHIATO’s piece at the 46th Palma d’Oro International Piano Competition (Italy) in 2019, 2nd prize at the 9th Verona international piano competition (Italy) in 2021, 2nd prize at the 40th Delia Steinberg International Piano Competition (Spain) in 2022, 1st prize at the 12th Massarosa International Piano Competition (Italy) in 2022 and “Rosa Sabater” prize, for the best interpreter of Spanish music, at the 64th International Piano Competition Premio Jaén in 2023. She has performed in many recitals throughout Japan such as Tokyo, Nagoya, Kobe and Italy.

She graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts and completed her Master’s degree and postgraduate course at Universität Mozarteum Salzburg with Prof. Jacques Rouvier. She is currently studying with M° Leonid Margarius at “Incontri col Maestro” International Piano Academy in Imola. She received a scholarship from the Japanese Government Overseas Study Program for Artists.
