Pedro López Salas was initially guided by his father toward a career in football. Raised in Albacete, he played the sport throughout his childhood, but soon realised that his true calling lay elsewhere. Fascinated from an early age by the piano scenes in Tom & Jerry cartoons, at the age of nine he asked his parents to let him give up football to begin studying piano. After just one week of lessons, Pedro firmly decided to dedicate his life to music. He completed both a Master’s degree and Artist Diploma at the Royal College of Music in London under the guidance of Norma Fisher and Vanessa Latarche, and is currently continuing his studies at the Reina Sofía School of Music in Madrid, where he studies with Stanislav Ioudenitch, Gold Medalist of the 2001 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. Winner of over forty national and international piano competition prizes throughout Europe, Pedro was awarded, among others, Second Prize at the Paderewski International Piano Competition in Bydgoszcz (Poland). His concert career has brought him across Europe, with important appearances at the Chopin and His Europe Festival and Rubinstein Festival in Łódź (Poland); with the Pomeranian Symphony Orchestra and the orchestras of Galicia, Castilla y León, València, and Sevilla (Spain); as well as in prestigious venues in Tivoli, Salzburg, Milan, and Venice. For Pedro, the concert experience is a deeply transformative one. “It is a kind of magic—an unexplainable moment,” he says. “It feels like entering a trance, where I share my entire emotional world with the audience and feel them connect with it.”
