Born in Siena on December 26, 2000, Francesco Mencarini graduated with honors and special mention from the Luigi Cherubini Conservatory in Florence, before earning a Master’s Degree in Piano Play & Recording with top honors from the Rovigo Conservatory. A student of pianists Alessandro Tricomi, Susanna
Bigongiari, Francesco Zampi, Alessandra Ammara, and Roberto Prosseda, he has participated in masterclasses
with Ramin Bahrami, Lazar Berman, Inna Faliks, Jed Distler, Maurizio Baglini, Luigi Tanganelli, and Roberto
Cappello. He has performed in Italy and abroad at prestigious venues, including the Klavierhaus in New York, the Rovigo Piano
diFestival, the Cantiere Internazionale d’Arte in Montepulciano, and the Accademia Chigiana in Siena. His
debut CD, dedicated to Alessandro Felici’s sonatas, is currently being released on the Brilliant
Classics label. A curious and prolific composer, he has received numerous awards for his works (Arezzo Music High School Prize, City of Albenga International Piano Competition), which focus primarily on piano, vocal, and chamber music, with significant influences from
minimalism and Eastern culture. He has collaborated extensively with young musicians and singers, who have
chosen his works for recordings, concerts, and degree programs. Between 2024 and 2025, his music has traveled
overseas: he himself performed his compositions at the Klavierhaus in New York, while tenor Bo Shimmin performed his Canciones de Viznar in Phoenix, Arizona.
