Crema represents the only territorial system in Italy dedicated to the art of organ building, alongside artisanal activities of pipe organ production and restoration, the Museum of Organ Art, and the School of Organ Art in Crema.

In the past, the city of Crema, thanks to its central location and the presence of numerous companies operating in the organ-building sector (organ factories, pipe makers, organ console manufacturers, organ parts producers), could boast the presence of Crema-made artifacts not only in Italy but also abroad. In 2024, several active partners, including 16 organ-building companies and workshops, led by the Libera Associazione Artigiani di Crema, signed an agreement to implement a training project that highlights the strong need for skilled resources to be integrated into regional enterprises.

The IFTS course “Innovative Techniques of Organ Art,” coordinated by ITS Academy Cremona and funded by the Lombardy Region, is a unique opportunity in Italy to train personnel with technical, historical, musical, design, and manual skills for the construction, maintenance, and repair of pipe organs, with particular reference to Crema’s sectoral tradition.
