The Abbiati Record Award – the counterpart of the award of the same name established in 1980 for live music – is the distinction through which the Italian National Association of Music Critics (Associazione Nazionale Critici Musicali) recognises the year’s finest recordings. As in the previous seven editions held in collaboration with Cremona Musica Expo and Festival, each of the six competing categories has awarded two recordings, for a total of twelve winning titles.
The nominations, drawn from recommendations submitted by the Association’s members – more than one hundred music critics active throughout Italy – were assessed by a jury comprising the Board of the Associazione Nazionale Critici Musicali (Andrea Estero, President of the ANCM and Chair of the Jury; Gianluigi Mattietti, Alessandro Cammarano, Carlo Fiore, Carla Moreni, Roberta Pedrotti and Alessandro Rigolli) and six critics elected by the ANCM membership (Luca Chierici, Francesco Cristiani, Silvia Del Zoppo, Giancarlo Landini, Gregorio Moppi and Lorenzo Tozzi), reflecting the wide range of perspectives and media represented within the Association, including newspapers, periodicals, specialist publications, online magazines and radio.
