Francesco Carletti was born in Fiuggi in 1988. He studied under Maestro Giancarlo Simonacci at the “Licinio
Refice” Conservatory in Frosinone and the “Santa Cecilia” Conservatory in Rome, where he graduated with
honors in 2010. That same year, he was awarded a Swiss Confederation scholarship, enabling him to pursue
advanced studies at the Basel Academy of Music with Maestro Filippo Gamba. There, he earned a Master’s
degree in Solo and Chamber Music Performance (2013) and a Master’s degree in Music Pedagogy (2016). His artistic development was further enriched through lessons and masterclasses with distinguished musicians such as Cristofer Giorgilli, Homero Francesch, Michael Levinas, Kyoko Hashimoto, and Riccardo Risaliti. Carletti has received numerous accolades at national and international competitions, including the Via Vittoria Prize for the best graduates of the “Santa Cecilia” Conservatory in Rome, presented by Maestro Ennio Morricone (2010); Second Prize A. Casella at the national piano competition Premio Venezia (2011); Third Prize at the International Piano Competition of Rhodes (Greece), chaired by Maestro Andrzej Jasiński (2012); and the Schumann Prize at the Grand Prix Animato International Competition in Paris (2012). As a soloist and chamber musician, he has performed in prestigious venues such as Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza (for Vicenza Jazz, directed by Maestro Alexander Lonquich), Ateneo Veneto, Sala del Liviano in Padua for the Amici della Musica, the Portogruaro Festival (L’estate d’inverno), Amici della Musica in Mogliano Veneto, Società del Quartetto in Verona, Teatro Palladium in Rome for Roma Tre Orchestra, Salle Cortot in Paris, and Stadtcasino in Basel. He has recorded the piano and string music of Viktor Kalabis for the Classical Crossover label (2018) and, together with Francesco Negro, the complete piano works of Giancarlo Simonacci for Da Vinci Publishing (2023). He is currently pursuing a PhD at the Conservatory of Rovigo in Italian Piano Music, with a research project focusing on the figure of Stefano Golinelli.
