The charango is an Andean string instrument whose origins date back to the encounter between Inca music and Spanish Baroque music. Over the centuries, it has spread in many variations throughout the highlands, and in recent decades, throughout the world. We will explore its history, highlighting its many forms, both ancient and modern, and the techniques and symbolism of the cultures that speak through its voice.
