Event Details

On Friday, October 2nd, at 6:00 PM, the Stauffer Academy will host an Open Class with Vilde Frang—one of the most original violinists on the international stage and winner of the 2026 Cremona Musica Award in the String Performance category. This event, part of the ongoing collaboration between the Stauffer Academy and Cremona Musica, will take place in the Sala Stradivari at Palazzo Stauffer.

Norwegian-born Vilde Frang was invited by Mariss Jansons to make her debut with the Oslo Philharmonic at the age of just twelve, launching a career that has seen her perform with orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic. In 2012, she received the Credit Suisse Young Artist Award, followed by her debut with the Vienna Philharmonic under the baton of Bernard Haitink at the Lucerne Festival. An exclusive Warner Classics artist, she has built an award-winning discography over the years, balancing her international career with a deep commitment to chamber music—a central element of her artistic exploration. The Guardian has described her sound as “icy, ardent, whispered, richly varied,” capturing the breadth of her expressive palette.

During the Open Class, Frang will work with Kristel Kraja and Teofil Milenkovic—two students from Salvatore Accardo’s violin course—on pieces from the major violin repertoire, accompanied on the piano by Maria Grazia Bellocchio. The audience will be able to follow this process up close, observing how meticulous work on technique and interpretation comes together, step by step, to shape the music.

Free admission until capacity is reached.
