Lusardi Restorations at Cremona Musica International Exhibitions and Festival, for the Exhibition/Homage to the great French-Italian shoe maker Pierre Yantorny and with the fascinating sculptures for …orchestra by M’horò
Cremona, Sept. 05, 2024 – Sculptural art, antiquarian art and craftsmanship meet at the 2024 edition of Cremona Musica International Exhibitions and Festival, scheduled for Sept. 27-29 at Cremona Fiere.
The wood used for the historic violins that have made Cremona’s music history and tradition “resonates” in a special way, thanks to an unprecedented and original Mostra\Omaggio (by Flavio Mancuso for Lusardi Restauri\Lusardi Modern & Contemporary Gallery) dedicated to the legendary Italian shoemaker creator (the most famous and expensive in the world) Pietro Iantorni, better known in Paris (where he emigrated at only 17 years of age from his native Calabria, in search of fortune) as Pierre Yantorny (or also Yantourny) who apparently made the elegant and precious “shoe-tenders” of his highly prized shoes with parts of antique violins, from where he derived their uniqueness and “musicality.”
The tribute to this singular and great protagonist of footwear fashion at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries is curated by Flavio Mancuso, a fashion historian, collector, designer and creative artist, who was inspired by his work and aesthetics, embellishing the shoes with real jewels that take their cues from the Wunderkammer of European courts. Yantorny, who harkened back to Versailles by adorning his creations with antique lace and precious buckles, thus receives from Lusardi and Mancuso, with the collaboration of Academ Editore, not a remake, but a heartfelt tribute to his sublime shoemaking art and the absolute beauty celebrated by his clients and the great artists who immortalized it. Flavio Mancuso’s collection of Rococo-style mules, inspired by the works of Yantorny, combines the elegance of the palace of Versailles with refined details and luxurious aesthetics, with jewelry embodying the opulence and luxury of the French court during the 17th and 18th centuries. These pieces feature elaborate designs, rich in ornamental detail, reflecting the grandeur and sophistication of the Palace and its most iconic historical figures, such as Louis XIV and Marie Antoinette.
Yantorny’s shoes were worn by the wealthy ladies who came to Paris to dress fashionably wearing his Callot, Jeanne Hallée, Maison Paquin, Doucet, and Poiret designs, purchasing them with hefty advances and mini orders from his store in the French capital at Faubourg St. Honoré 96, where his creations became very popular, even appearing in the portraits of various well-known painters and portraitists of his time, including Giovanni Boldini. Upon his death, after Van Cleef purchased his collection, they are preserved at the Metropolitan Museum in New York and other prestigious museums around the world such as the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the Musée de la chaussure in Romans-sur-Isère , France.
Sculptural art will be represented in Cremona thanks to the works of M’Horò, the artist with a hidden identity who materializes and speaks through his latest works that formed the “Fantastic Symphony” collection: a series of admirable sculptures for …orchestra, a formidable and fascinating production that is highly original, poetic, enigmatic and very modern, entirely dedicated to musical instruments. His violins, violas, cellos and double basses; his pianos, accordions, flutes, oboes and saxophones, very light aluminum chisels made from industrial waste, will thrill visitors with their ability to merge with the forms and myth of the legendary Amati, Stradivari, Guarneri, Guadagnini.
The union between M’horò, Cremona Musica and Lusardi Restauri is also destined to leave its mark through direct collaboration on the “Cremona Musica Awards,” which were conceived precisely by M’horò and Lusardi: authentic jewels\premiums, sculpted again by the artist, that the event will award to distinguished international musicians.
All forms of art related to music are at the heart of Cremona Musica International Exhibitions and Festival, which year after year establishes itself as a must-attend event for enthusiasts, insiders and amateurs, a place of encounter and comparison where culture, history, tradition and innovation meet. Appointment at Cremona Fiere from September 27 to 29, 2024.
