Storia personale
Born in 1966, Romano De Carlo developed a passion for electronics as a child, inspired by his father, a radio engineer. At the age of twelve, he discovered the fascination of vacuum tubes and began building his first circuits, thus beginning a journey that would continue throughout his life
For many years, designing and building amplifiers remained a passion cultivated alongside everyday life, fueled by curiosity, experimentation, and the ongoing pursuit of the sound and response of great tube amplifiers
In 2010, he decided to present his work at the Milan trade fairs, where he was noticed by the late Alberto Radius. After personally testing the amplifiers in his studio, Radius helped raise awareness of Romano’s work with a review published in one of the most important Italian audio magazines of the time
Passion and Profession
What began as a passion gradually transformed into a profession. Over the years, Romano De Carlo personally built hundreds of amplifiers, collaborating with numerous professional musicians and seeing his creations reach guitarists and specialty shops throughout Europe and even overseas

What will I bring to Cremona?
“Because, even as technology evolves, the search for inspiring sound remains timeless.”
Today, Artesound has deliberately chosen a more intimate and exclusive dimension. Each amplifier is designed and built one at a time, with meticulous attention to detail and a philosophy that reflects over fifty years of passion and experience
At Cremona Musica, Artesound will present a selection of five or six amplifiers from the models that best represent its manufacturing philosophy. These will include the VibroTweed and the new version of the 30AS, along with other designs currently in development.
All the amplifiers on display will feature exposed solid wood cabinets, crafted using woods sourced from our valleys, such as cherry, walnut, and maple. Each cabinet is finished with oil and wax, enhancing the wood’s natural beauty and making each piece unique
The decision to abandon the traditional tolex covering stems from a desire to bring the material, craftsmanship, and connection to the local area back to the forefront. This approach draws on the world of musical instruments and the Italian tradition of violin making, where attention to detail and quality craftsmanship have always played a fundamental role
More than just an aesthetic finish, these amplifiers represent the meeting of sound research, craftsmanship and materials that belong to the culture and landscapes from which Artesound draws inspiration.
