Cremona, September 21st – Everything is ready in Cremona for the 2025 edition of Cremona Musica International Exhibitions and Festival, scheduled for September 26th to 28th.
Among the numerous guests and events, the names of the artists who will be honored with the Cremona Musica Awards have been announced: for many years now, performers and institutions that have achieved excellence in the world of music have been granted this prestigious prize – among them Alfred Brendel, Michael Nyman and Krzysztof Penderecki.
For the Una vita per il pianoforte (A Life for Piano) category, the 2025 edition will give the Cremona Musica Award to Italian pianist Bruno Canino: the ceremony will take place on Sunday 28th at 4.30 pm , in the Sala Guarnieri of Cremona Fiere. Canino will play works by Mayseder and Brahms with mandolinist Carlo Aonzo, violinist Alessio Bidoli and pianist Roberto Prosseda (artistic coordinator of Cremona Musica).
One of the most revered pianist of the last decades, Bruno Canino was born in Naples and celebrates 90 years this December. He plays in piano duo with Antonio Ballista and collaborates with many esteemed performers, such as Salvatore Accardo, Uto Ughi, Itzahk Perlman and Sergei Krylov. Deeply committed to contemporary music, he worked with Pierre Boulez, Luciano Berio, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Gyorgy Ligeti, Bruno Maderna, Luigi Nono and Sylvano Bussotti, and premiered many of their compositions. He recorded the complete piano works of Alfredo Casella and Emmanuel Chabrier. Canino will be awarded for his unique contribution to the international classical music scene and to the dissemination of piano culture.
In addition to Canino, the Cremona Musica Awards will also be awarded to violinist Midori (Performance category), Franco Scala for the “Incontri col Maestro” Piano Academy (Project category), and composer Francesco Filidei (Composition).
