Cremona, September 22nd – Everything is ready in Cremona for the 2025 edition of Cremona Musica International Exhibitions and Festival, scheduled for September 26th to 28th.
Among the numerous guests and events, the names of the artists who will be honored with the Cremona Musica Awards have been announced: for many years now, performers and institutions that have achieved excellence in the world of music have been granted this prestigious prize – among them Alfred Brendel, Michael Nyman and Krzysztof Penderecki.
For the Project category, the 2025 edition will give the Cremona Musica Award to Italian pianist Franco Scala, founder and first director of the Accademia Internazionale “Incontri col Maestro” in Imola: the ceremony will take place during the Gala night “Music Made in Italy” on Friday the 26th at the Museo del Violino, and will be accompanied by the performance of many Italian musicians such as Luigi Attademo, Marina Comparato, Rosa Feola, Francesco Libetta and Roberto Prosseda (artistic coordinator of Cremona Musica).
Born in Imola, pianist Franco Scala came back to his hometown in 1981 to start one of the leading institution on the international music scene, the Accademia “Incontri col Maestro”: after almost 45 years, prominent musicians have attended the Academy and collected an honours list of 100 first prizes in the world’s major contests. This year in Cremona, Franco Scala is awarded for his unique vision and for his ability to create and foster an institution that has become a reference point for the international classical music scene.
In addition to Scala, the Cremona Musica Awards will also be awarded to violinist Midori (Performance category), pianist Bruno Canino (A Life for Piano category), and composer Francesco Filidei (Composition).
