Good morning Flavio, how could we summarize your story?
Hello, my name is Flavio Camorani. I’m from Forlì, in the province of Romagnolo. I’ve been an established collector for several years. I own a wonderful, completely original and complete collection of every Fender instrument in the catalog, obviously vintage between 1946 and 1974, plus the Fullerton production from ’82. In my life, in addition to music, I take this collection to various places: historic buildings, institutions, exhibition halls, festivals, and to events and individuals who request it
I’m a friend and a passionate collaborator of the Electric Sound Village, this well-managed and organized new space in CREMONAMUSICA. I’ll decide soon what I can bring from my collection to this event. I think it could be a selection of 1950s maple-neck instruments or Fiesta Reds, or perhaps, who knows, guitars and basses selected from various vintages. Either way, it will be a beautiful historical display, both aesthetically and collectibly
How do you see the meeting between tradition and innovation?
I am a staunch defender of everything produced during the golden age of vintage instruments. Each instrument must be preserved in its original condition, with its original patina, period details, and, of course, every part original. I will also offer my texts, for consultation and for sale, to document my work method, always in the interest of protecting this art created so many years ago and combating the forgers and many replicators of originals that exist today
Regarding the intersection of tradition and innovation, I’m half-blind because I’m a little skeptical of digital technology and anything mechanized/industrially produced. I prefer things that were traditionally produced by hand, and in much smaller quantities
Precisely for this reason, I respect and admire the many luthiers who still create and build instruments of the highest quality today. Therefore, I rightly open the door to innovation, expressive skill, and craftsmanship, while also respecting history, from which we must learn.
I look forward to seeing you with a significant selection from the Fender Vintage Museum collection. Best regards, everyone. We look forward to seeing you!
