WAITING FOR CREMONA MUSICA 2024 From guitar to flute, the first great international guests revealed

by Ruben Marzà

The 2024 edition of the Cremona Musica International Exhibitions and Festival is getting closer, scheduled from September 27 to 29, and new details are continually being unveiled for the curiosity of enthusiasts.

TheAcoustic Guitar Village, the space dedicated to the guitar and stringed and plucked instruments, confirms itself as a precious appointment not only from a commercial perspective but also from those of training and live performance. “Luthiery masterclasses are planned with two prestigious American teachers Jason Kostal and Michael Bashkin,” announces artistic director Alessio Ambrosi, “among the many artists I can mention American acoustic guitarist Preston Reed and the Kruger Brothers trio, with Jens Kruger who is considered the world’s number one banjo virtuoso.”

The Accordion Show, the area dedicated to the accordion, is also growing: this year among the numerous guests will be the composer, instrumentalist, and researcher from Pistoia, Riccardo Tesi, a pioneer of ethnic music, who will be awarded the prestigious Cremona Musica Award.

To all this is added the important novelty of the Electric Sound Village, which will join the Acoustic Guitar Village in giving new impetus to the dialogue between acoustic, classical, modern, and electric lutherie.

There are also new developments on Cremona Winds, with a program that will see the presence of prominent international personalities: a true legend of the flute, Sir James Galway, will be in Cremona to receive the Cremona Musica Award. In addition to him, there will be flutists Silvia Careddu and Andrea Oliva, clarinetists Corrado Giuffredi and Nicolas Baldeyrou, bassoonist Andrea Bressan, and oboist Domenico Orlando.

Great anticipation, therefore, for the renewal of an appointment that, in the 2023 edition, saw over 20,000 attendeeswith more than 350 exhibitors from 35 countries and 180 events including concerts, competitions, presentations, and masterclasses; an event capable like few others of uniting professionals and enthusiasts, musicians, and craftsmen for three days of total immersion in the world of sound.

For all this and much more… see you at Cremona Musica 2024!
